Overview

What Dainty is, and how it keeps everyone safe.

01

What is Dainty

Dainty is a marketplace that connects people who want live music with artists who perform — DJs, bands, soloists, and other acts.

There are two sides:

  • Booking side — you find an artist, agree a price privately, and pay. This is what consumers (private events) and businesses (organizers, venues) do.
  • Performing sideartists list what they offer, receive requests, send quotes, and get paid after the show.

One account can be on both sides. The rest of these docs walk through everything, step by step.

How your money stays safe

All payments run through Stripe — Dainty never touches your money. Artists are paid on a delayed payout schedule: your payment is processed by Stripe, and the artist's payout is released after the event (usually about 24 hours after the show).

If something goes wrong, you open a dispute and the payout is paused until it's resolved. This protects both sides: the artist knows the payment has really been made, and you know they aren't paid out until they've performed.

Funds only move to the artist after the show — or back to you if a dispute is resolved that way.

Which account type are you?

  • Consumer — booking an artist for a private occasion (wedding, birthday). Flat-fee bookings only.
  • Artist (performer) — you perform and want to be booked. You get a public profile.
  • Organizer — a business running events; can sell tickets and use revenue-share deals.
  • Venue — a business that hosts events; like an organizer, and can also be booked as a performer.

Each type has its own page in this guide. If you're not sure, start as a consumer — you can add a business role later on the same account.
